reflection on Title Sequence

For the Title sequence I wanted to shoot something about remembering dreams or a sense of foreboding. I also wanted to try and capture digital grain In the shadows around my flat. I had a basic storyboard before going in which helped as the majority of the work was done in the edit. For the shoot i chose to use the Canon XA70 due to it’s infrared filter and ease of use. I also used my Nikon Coolpix digital camera for a few stills,

One happy accident from the shoot was using automatic focus on the long shot of the door captured which captured the feeling of zoning out that i was going for. In the masterclass that took place the week after i filmed this we discussed Haptic Visuality, I didn’t really have words beyond “i like how it looks” when talking about grain or blur so i have found very useful in describing the kind of work i’d like to do moving forward. I feel there are some shots here where i tried my hand at the style. This was a beginner attempt but It’s something i’d like to improve and expand upon over the course of the semester.

However i feel i was not able to capture enough footage for the project to keep it engaging for its runtime. As i said this is something i’d like to pursue further and i’m planning on doing more experiment’s using my minidv camcorder.
