For shooting on the second day I planned to get more b-roll for the dream sequence and film in the university cinema. My original idea was to edit the “dream sequence” and have it play on the projector which was an evolution of an idea I had last semester which involved a chase in the cinema.

I think utilising the cinema as a “room out of time” allows me to be more flexible and creative rather than have it just be a room, i also like the aesthetics of the cinemaspace and I feel there’s a lot to play around with. As the footage from the first day was incomplete i instead decided to play a green screen and attempt to composite the footage over it in the edit. However upon reviewing the footage from day 2 i wasn’t able to transfer the establishing shot of the green screened cinema for whatever reason as such i’ve had to improvise. This was very disheartening as having the footage play on the screen was really the lynchpin of the sequence and as such it doesn’t really work without especially the climax where the boundaries blur. I’ve tried to make it work as best I can, I can’t separate the edit as it is from what i wanted it to be and as such im struggling to find a way around the gap.For the sound i wanted to play distorted audio over the real sequences and use natural audio over the dream sequences to make them more relaxed. Overall i feel using the cinema was a really exciting creative change from previous drafts and im excited to work more on it going forward but having it missing from this final piece makes the whole sequence collapse.
